Durango Mountain Resort (also known as just Durango or Purgatory) is located approximately 365 miles from Denver, in the southwest corner of Colorado. The ski area is situated 25 miles north of the town of Durango (La Plata County), and is one of six Colorado ski resorts in the beautiful San Juan Mountain Range.
The resort was established in 1965. It sits on 1,360 diverse acres, servicing 88 marked trails. Durango currently offers 10 lifts (including a 1 high speed Six person and 1 high speed Quad) and can accommodate up to 15,050 people per hour.
Purgatory has been known for some of the most consistent snow in Colorado over the years. They receive frequent storms, followed by plenty of blue-sky days, making it a true snow lovers paradise.
